Frequently asked
Questions, answered plainly
Everything prospective members ask us most, in one place, including the one about the dog.
Starting
Do I need any fitness experience to join?
No. Beginners start with Fundamentals: five one-on-one sessions that teach the movements before your first class, with your first month of membership included. After that every class is coached and scaled, so you and a five-year member can train side by side.
What actually happens at a No Sweat Intro?
You sit down with David for about twenty minutes, one on one. There is no workout and no need for gym clothes. At the end you get a straight recommendation for where to start.
Do I need to work out or bring gym clothes?
No. Come as you are, straight from work if that’s easiest. Everyone starts with the sit-down, seasoned athlete or first day in a gym like this, and you leave it with a straight recommendation for where to start.
Is it really free, and is there a sales pitch?
Free, no card, no obligation. It’s a conversation about whether this is a good fit, which sometimes means the honest answer is no.
Is it normal to be really sore after starting?
Yes, especially in your first few weeks. It usually eases as your body adapts over two to three weeks of consistent training. Sharp or joint pain is different from normal muscle soreness and is worth mentioning to your coach.
Classes
How long is a class?
A typical Group Training class runs about an hour: a short warm-up, a skill or technique block, the main workout, and a cooldown. Open Gym sessions run longer and are self-directed.
How often should I come each week?
Most beginners start at two to four times a week. There’s no single right number. It depends on your goals, your schedule, and how you’re recovering between sessions.
Is there an age range for your classes?
There’s no strict age cutoff for Group Training: classes are scaled by ability, not age, so members in their 20s through their 60s and beyond train side by side in the same session.
Money
What’s the included monthly 1:1 session all about?
One personal coaching session each month is included with new memberships, on top of your regular Group Training classes. Grandfathered memberships do not include this session.
It’s use-it-or-lose-it: the session resets each month rather than banking.
Why don’t you list membership prices on your site?
Because a fair membership rate depends on your starting point and how often you plan to train, and we’d rather work that out with you directly than post a one-size-fits-all number.
Visiting
Is parking easy, and is it free?
Yes, parking is free and right outside our bay doors at 113 Vera Rd, just off Exit 55 on I-20. There’s no permit, meter, or reservation needed.
Can I drop in if I’m just visiting Lexington?
Yes, visiting athletes and travelers are welcome to drop in for $25 a day or $100 for the week, no membership required.
We ask that you have a minimum of three months of recent, regular fitness experience.
Are you the same gym that used to be at 113 Vera Rd under a different name?
Yes, same address, same owners, same coaches, and the same community, training at 113 Vera Rd since November 2018. What changed is the name.
If you trained here (or heard about us) under our old name, you’re in the right place.
Pepper
Wait, do you really have a gym dog?
Yes, meet Pepper, our resident AussieDoodle. She’s on the coaching roster (really) and has even shown up by name in our Google reviews.
She’s friendly, well-behaved around class, and, by her own admission, partial to anyone who brings treats.
Still have a question?
Call, message us, or book a No Sweat Intro. We’ll answer anything we haven’t covered here.
